The Academic Framework
A Seamless Trajectory of Learning
Our academic structure is designed to foster specialisation without isolation. While we are divided into distinct faculties, the walls between them are porous. We encourage an interdisciplinary approach that reflects the complexities of the 21st-century workforce.
The Sixth Form College (A-Level & IB Pathways)
For our students aged 16-18, education is a transition from guided instruction to independent inquiry. We offer a curated selection of A-Levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma, with a heavy emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and the Creative Arts.
Unlike typical Sixth Form colleges, our students utilize university-grade laboratories and studios.
- The Scholar’s Programme: High-performing students are invited to join the ‘Skyfall Scholars’ stream, which involves weekly seminars led by University faculty, bridging the gap between A-Level content and first-year undergraduate thinking.
- University Preparation: We do not simply help write UCAS personal statements; we simulate university interviews and admissions tests (such as the TMUA or portfolio reviews) to ensure our graduates are battle-hardened.
Undergraduate Studies (Honours Degrees)
Our undergraduate provision is boutique and specialised. We do not offer every subject; we only offer the subjects where we can be world-leaders.
- Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences: This is our flagship department. The BSc (Hons) in Computer Science is rigorous, mathematical, and intensely practical. Modules include Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering Ethics. We focus on “Code that Matters”—teaching students to build systems that solve real-world problems.
- School of Design & Architecture: Our BA programmes focus on the convergence of space and visual communication. The curriculum is studio-based. Students are expected to treat the campus as their laboratory, engaging in live projects that often involve redesigning aspects of our own learning environments.
- School of Economic Theory: Moving beyond standard business studies, this school focuses on Econometrics and Global Finance. It is a mathematically demanding course designed for future analysts and policy-makers.
Postgraduate & Research
At the postgraduate level, Skyfall becomes a hub of intense specialisation. Our Master’s programmes are primarily research-based (MRes), designed for individuals who wish to contribute original knowledge to their field. The cohort is kept intentionally small—rarely exceeding 15 students per intake—to ensure direct access to professors and principal investigators.
Pedagogy: The ‘Skyfall Standard’
We employ a blended pedagogical model.
- The Lecture: Used sparingly to introduce core concepts.
- The Seminar: The heart of our teaching. Small groups (max 8-10) where silence is not an option. Students must defend their ideas.
- The Lab/Studio: The engine of application. Whether it is a coding sandbox or a wet lab, students spend 40% of their time doing, not just listening.
